Crosswalk API - Frequently Asked Questions
-
Crosswalk currently includes all versions of Construction Specification Institute (CSI) standards MasterFormat®, UniFormat®, and OmniClass®, as well as ASTM E1557. We are exploring incorporating additional standards, please contact us for more information about your specific request.
-
Crosswalk is available as an application program interface (API). An API is a set of functions and procedures that allow software applications and portals access to our library of standards, as well as our best-in-class “crosswalks” between industry standards.
-
For decades, specifiers and engineers have kept their own individual translations between standards – self-developed guides that show how to specify the same set of products or systems within different standards, frequently called “crosswalks” between standards. Crosswalk uses a set of best-in-class “crosswalks” developed by leading specifiers in conjunction with the Construction Specifications Institute, creating a standardized approach to translations between standards and offering a more reliable and repeatable way to re-classify project data.
-
Contractors, designers, and engineers are implementing Crosswalk to replace paper, spreadsheets, and PDFs with a nimble, digital solution. Software providers are embedding Crosswalk into AEC products and resources to access classifications in real time, re-classify sets of data into other standards, improve search functions for specifications, and organize project data. Project and facilities managers use Crosswalk to manage current and historical project data. Explore our Use Cases for additional applications.
